A superb, old-time proustite thumbnail from the historic Josef Vajdak Collection. This is a classic, aesthetic, mountain peak cluster of gemmy, wine-red proustite crystals from the famous St Joachimsthal District of the Erzgebirge, Czech Republic. The gorgeous, "ruby-silver" glows through the faces of the ice-like luster on these sharp spires. The striking frontal view is very nearly pristine. Accompanied by a label from the Royal Bohemian Museum with a postulated 1860 collection date noted. Josef is a specialist collector and dealer in such things, now retired.
