This is an old locality piece from the 1960s, a rare African blue topaz. This attractive topaz is very rare, and much gemmier and more intensely blue in person. Few Brazilian blue topazes can match this blue color intensity, in my experience. They remain a unique and little known find from Africa, but to those who recall them coming out, they had a deservedly good status in the collecting community. Now, impossible to find. This one is a full miniature, weighing 40 grams. Ex. Martin Lewadny Collection.
