Strontianite With Fluorite and Calcite
Outstanding cabinet specimen of fluorescent Strontianite from the famous Minerva Mine. Each spray consists of dozens upon dozens of Strontianite needles, the longest of which reach 5 cm in length. Naturally, some of the tips are missing, but that is to be expected amidst so many. Most are intact. Collected in 1995, this is from the finest pocket of Strontianites ever found at Minerva. In fact, this ranks right up there with the very best found of the species, from Illinois. See the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 28, No. 1, page 44, fig. 86 for more information. This is a MAJOR Illinois specimen, and certainly must be among the top examples of its species from a US locale.
