Beryl var. Morganite
Vivid pink Morganites from the White Queen Mine are among the most desirable of the San Diego County pegmatite minerals. This single, near-floater is partially gemmy and has minor Cleavelandite attached. The crystal is euhedral and complete all around. Mined by Phil Dawson, this 58 gram Morganite probably came out in the 50's or 60's. Compared to many of Kay's old classics, a relatively modern find such as this Morganite almost seems like a sleeper, but don't let this great opportunity pass for a Classic White Queen! It is a highly desirable and aesthetic Morganite, with color and form putting it high on the list among surviving miniatures in this size range from the mine.
