A totally gem Emerald crystal from Columbia with excellent color! This gorgeous, glassy Emerald crystal is actually quite rare: it is twelve-sided, meaning it has both first and second order prism faces adding to 12 instead of 6 faces. This is very rare and unusual for not only Emerald, but for the Beryl Group in general. It also has a perfect pinacoid termination. The crystal is transparent and gemmy, really quite cuttable, with only a slightly turbid area at the base of the crystal. A superb gem thumbnail, recently exchanged from the collection of Desautels-winning collector Stretch Young. 11.4 carats
