A classic and excellent combination specimen from the San Piero locality on the famous and historic Elba Island. The slender, 1.2 cm Beryl is totally gemmy and highly lustrous. It spans a matrix consisting of sharp, white K-Feldspar crystals that are lustrous and fluorescent, gemmy and deeply shaded Smoky Quartzes, and white Albites that are also fluorescent. It is fascinating, and hugely appealing, that the two Feldspars fluoresce vastly different colors. This is really a wonderful combination piece from a famous area, with a good provenance being from the Rodekohr and Cassirer (1888-1979: see http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=572) collections previously .
