Blue Willemite is one of the more sought-after species from Tsumeb, due in large part to its enchanting colors and the high luster often associated with its botryoidal habit. Interestingly, this attractive small cabinet piece dominated by blue Willemite on one side is also nicely accented by Duftite-included Calcite on the other side! Knobs of scintillating, blue Willemite are covered by a wealth of sparkling, totally clear, 1 mm Calcite crystals that have inclusions of microscopic, bright green Duftite crystals at their core that makes for astounding mineralogical and textural diversity! The soft-green color complemented by the light blue and overall sparkly luster is quite appealing. There is no damage of any kind to the display surface. The reverse side of the piece is predominantly blue Willemite as a drusy, botryoidal surface that is accented by a dozen or so glistening, 1 mm rhombs of colorless Calcite in one area and then a smaller area has a sprinkling of 0.5 mm, green Duftite sprays. It's interesting to note that both of those species are present, but the Calcite does not overgrow the Duftite on this side! There is only minor contacting on the surface. A fine, and unique, Willemite combination specimen from Tsumeb. Ex. Richard Hauck collection with label. It is simply gorgeous in person. A final photo shows fluorescence, which is oddly red. The reverse side as we show it is actually a great willemite on its own merit without any calcite/duftite (see video).
