The Lane & Son trap rock quarries are certainly among the most famous Babingtonite localities in the United States. This attractive and classic small cab features a 1.7 cm bladed Babingtonite sitting in a pocket of Calcite crystals, all on basalt matrix. The face of the Babingtonite crystal has moderate luster, and the super-sharp, beveled edges are striated with a high luster. There is a small amount of edge wear in one spot, but the overall aesthetics are quite good. This piece came from the collection of noted California collector Ed Oyler and was #12467 in Kay's collection. Quality Massachusetts Babingtonites such as this are awfully hard to find these days.
