A superb, old-time, cabinet galena specimen from the Ballard Mine of the Kansas portion of the Tri-State District. Splendent, metallic galena cubes to 4.0 cm are aesthetically clustered on the chert matrix and nicely accented with marcasite cogwheels and some sphalerite crystals. A few of the galena crystal corners have octahedral modifications and there are scattered secondary galena overgrowths or "fortification" patterns that add character. Classic and outstanding material from this historic district from the Ed David Collection. Weighs over 1 kilogram.
