This is an absolute killer combination piece from the California State Gem Mine in San Benito County, California! It features a jewel of benitoite perched on a vertical Neptunite. I have never seen another quite like it. A super lustrous, black to black-brown, prismatic crystal of Neptunite has a touch of matrix at the base while the other end, which has an etched termination, is graced with a stunning, sapphire blue, 1.9 cm, triangular-shaped Benitoite crystal. The placement of the Benitoite is perfect for composition and overall balance of the piece. Neptunite is a rare potassium-sodium-lithium-iron-titanium silicate and Benitoite is a barium-titanium silicate. The California State Gem Mine is the premier world locality for both titanium species. ex Kevin Brown Collection, and comes with a custom display base.
