A dazzlingly sharp, clean and well-formed Cassiterite from the Amo tin deposit in China that produced some exceptional Cassiterite crystals during the course of production. It is translucent to transparent in good light, with deep coffee color, with striated faces and exceptional adamantine luster. The big crystal is complete all around with the only contacting at the bottom where it was carefully removed from a Quartz-bearing matrix. There is some minor edge rubbing, only. This find was a big departure from the more familiar opaque black crystals from the Ping Wu beryl deposit and represented an important new occurrence for Cassiterite at the time they came out (late 1990s, for this one).
