A STRIKING, ultra-rich CABINET zeolite specimen from Switzerland. This dramatic piece contains two generations of glassy scolecite needles. The spectacular, 6.5 cm, radial spray of pearlescent scolecite needles rests on matrix and atop an incredible jackstraw jumble of colorless scolecite needles on a vuggy matrix. The scolecite needles cover the front and bottom of this stunning piece from the Rolf Wein Collection, a noted Alpine collector, who obtained this excellent specimen in 1969. Access and collecting at this famous locality has been strictly forbidden since 2007. Pieces from the Alpine zeolite deposits like this are not often seen on the specimen market.
