A stark, dramatic, "leaf" of gold stands straight up atop a twisting branch of gold, on a matrix of intergrown microcrystalline and massive gold. This is a classic old Grass Valley District style, like you see in old exhibits at the Smithsonian and Carnegie museums. The piece is 360 degrees, complete all around. It is a superb, toenail sized example of a rare California, USA style. Most of the specimens will be broken off matrix, whereas this displays so nicely! Ex. Marilyn Dodge collection, to me nearly 10 years ago, and back to me recently. (it carries her label from her competitive thumbnail exhibits on the East Coast show circuit)
