Beryls from this locality have trickled to the market over the years, and they have ranged in color from yellow to green to blue. This is what I would call the old style "seafoam blue" color from this region, much of which was cut for lapidary purposes in the past. This very good, 50 gram, single crystal is very gemmy with an intriguing, misty core (it shows much better in person then in the pics). The main prism faces are glassy, and all the modified faces (prism and termination) are frosted. Preferential effects like this always add to the interest and beauty. The crystal is complete, except for the contact at the bottom. It is difficult to say if the termination has edge wear or minor contacting right along the edge. Overall, this is a very good, aesthetic example from the older finds, probably 1960s or prior.
