This bizarre cubist artwork is an exceptionally fine, unusual, zoned Fluorite with oriented deposition of sparkly minerals atop! It was mined in 1989. The main crystal here is zoned (purple-blue-purple), and it has a coating of drusy Calcite sprinkled with Chalcopyrite and Galena crystals of a fine and small nature that give it the look of being dipped in sugar. On top of that coating, is a secondary growth of later purple Fluorite. Both the Chalcopyrites and Galenas have superb metallic luster, and the Galenas are cubes heavily modified by the octahedron for extra effect. This unusual, first-rate specimen was illustrated in the Mineralogical Record's very important "Illinois-Kentucky Fluorite District" issue. Volume 28, Page 40, Figure 74 (1997). we have never seen another like it
