The Trepca Complex and it's sulfide deposits have produced a variety of great combination specimens like this one, which is particularly fine for the Pyrrhotite from this locality. A superb cluster of several, well-defined, platy Pyrrhotite crystals is associated with Calcite and Siderite on this attractive combination specimen. The metallic bronze, hexagonal-shaped Pyrrhotites range in size from 1 to 5 cm across and upon close scrutiny they are all lamellar looking at their edges and resemble closely packed, very thin potato chips. The crystals in front are clustered at shallow angles for great aesthetics and presentation. The Pyrrhotite crystals have several 1 to 3 mm spheres of Siderite gracing them very locally near the base on one side. An elongated cluster of disk-like, translucent white to tan Calcite crystals form the backdrop on the right side with several, interspersed Siderite spheres here too. An attractive combo piece from Trepca!
