Looking at first glance more like it should be from Elmwood, this choice plate of twinned Calcite scalenohedrons has a great deal of appeal. The butterscotch-colored Calcites are gemmy to translucent, and their luster is similarly varied, ranging from superbly glassy to silky. The crystals are sharp and well-formed, with the twinning well defined where present. The Calcites are spread out nicely across the matrix, giving this large cabinet piece good balance and excellent overall aesthetics. The largest of the Calcites is about 6.7 cm, and their orange fluorescence reveals the internal zoning. An excellent and highly unusual locality piece, especially in this size. Mined in 1989. RCL1512
