An exquisite, gemmy blue Halite crystal is associated with just the right touch of matrix from the now famous Carlsbad Potash district in New Mexico. This Halite has sharp faces and edges and measures 3.3 cm across its longest edge and is 1.4 cm thick. This somewhat-flattened cube of rich blue halite is completely transparent and displays a dark blue rim and local, diffused purplish patches internally. There is a bit of whitish to iron-stained Sylvite at one corner at the bottom that also hosts a single, small bluish Halite for the great composition and balance. This is a superb specimen and certainly one of the best recovered in its size class for a competition level miniature. These Halites are among best-of-species from the finds circa 2010-2012 found in a deep abandoned level of this large potash mine.
