This is a MONSTROUS cassiterite crystal weighing over a kilo! It has gorgeous form, GLASSY luster and a myriad of reflective mini-faces culminating in an unusually broad and well-formed termination that is quite different than the common, sharply tapered terminations we are used to seeing. Contact is limited to the back and bottom where the crystal was removed from matrix, and one small ding on the left edge. If you have ever seen a more impressive single crystal of cassiterite for under 2 grand, I would like to hear about it. I thik this is just a really important mineral specimen and cannot believe it did not sell in the gallery. It is so far and above most of these, that it impresses even folks who do not like black rocks. 8.5 x 8 x 4 cm (weight 1, 067 grams!)
