Sharp, gemmy and lustrous, bright canary-yellow Sulfur crystals cover this very fine, three-dimensional small cabinet specimen from the historic Cozzo Disi Mine, Sicily. The vibrantly colored, textbook, orthorhombic crystals are transparent to translucent and comprise an open cluster so that the individual crystals are nicely isolated. These gorgeous, blocky, geometric crystals average 1.5 cm across and none of them are damaged! The Sulfur crystals are actually arranged on a core area of finely crystalline, creamy colored Aragonite which is very typical for this locality. The Aragonite fluoresces in both long and short wave UV. This is an excellent, classic specimen from this historic Sicilian sulfur mine that dates to the mid-1800s. This piece is from the Jack Halpern collection and comes with his label as well as a custom engraved acrylic base. It is a superb example in the size range, with top quality shape and color.
