Incredible, arborescent growth of gemmy and lustrous Sulphur crystals from an obscure mine near ROME. The sinuous Sulfurs are sub-parallel and have an excellent, resinous luster that almost borders on metallic, the crystals are so good and gemmy! The little bit of Bitumen on the surface adds just a bit of contrast, which helps define these excellent crystals. Note that this is not cleaned by a modern lab - it could be cleaned so that the sulfur is much brighter yellow and the bitumen is partially removed, but I LIKE the antique look of it. The fact that this Sulphur is from an obscure old locality that isn't even in Mindat anymore (if it ever was) makes this vibrant and aesthetic small cab even more collectible to us. Better in person! ex Scott Williams in 1960, from the WF Davidson collection. I personally have never seen the like...
