Stibnite is a very important source of Antimony (Sb), and the archetypal crystal can have great metallic luster and sharp striations. Terminations can vary, and like many minerals, crystals from a particular location can have their own subtle 'look'. One characteristic of some Stibnites, including those from Lushi in the 1980s and early 1990s, is a strong curvature within the crystal. Only a small percentage have this attribute, but it is highly desirable - and here, shown in extreme development! The curvature on this thick, substantial Stibnite is amazing, so when I say the crystal is 6.8 cm 'as the crow flies', you know why. Associated with Calcite crystals up to 4.5 cm, this is quite an attractive and unusual combination piece. Old Chinese material, from the Kurt Hefendehl collection. This is a REALLY unusual and dramatic specimen, stibnite or not.
