Elongated Arsenopyrite crystals, formerly known as the now discredited species Danaite from this locale, are quite uncommon, and this particular crystal is an exceptional example right out of the old 1800's crystal textbooks. With the elongated axis, this single, lustrous crystal is doubly-terminated, with a chisel-point at each end. The Danaite, at 1.5 cm long, is very sharp and well-defined. It sits in a Pyrite ore matrix. This is certainly from the early to mid 1800's era of mining here.
