An unusual, large cabinet calcite rhombohedron from the Taff's Well Quarry at Cardiff, Wales. The translucent, wedge-like rhomb, with a colorless interior, has about a 1.0 cm thick overgrowth rind of amber, hematite-tinted calcite with very unusual, parallel-growth faces. The top edge is very strange - totally glassy with no overgrowth. Uncommonly large crystal from this locale and the Lindsay Greenbank Collection, a noted English collector, dealer and field collector.
