This sculptural crystallized gold specimen is made of intergrown, long, elongated crystals showing hoppered growth. The Bendigo gold is particularly bright and "golden" in color due to its purity, with a wonderful luster as well. This is a 3-dimensional piece that displays as a specimen. While most are nuggets, just rounded lumps, this shows crystal habit. The crystals are worn by water and weathering over literally aeons of time, into these fanciful rounded shapes that look biological. The gold here was formed hundreds of millions of years ago and thought to have moved at least once from its place of origin, hence the weathering. This specimen came out long ago and has been in the Tom Hall collection. 113 grams.
