Standing majestically on a thin layer of limestone along with drusy, "ruby jack" sphalerite is a lustrous and translucent, rich amber colored calcite scalenohedron measuring 8.5 cm in length. An added bonus is the 6 cm across, doubly terminated, amber colored crystal to the side. It is a gorgeous and dramatic specimen that actually seems to be a floater, complete all around even on bottom. The shape is simple but has complex sides at the same time. It seems to be pristine with the possible exception of what may be a very small contact at the rear of the top termination. RCL 509, collected 1983.
