A very important old historic classic! This specimen hosts a beautiful combination of Acanthite and fluorescent Calcite from the Giovanni Bonu mine in Sardinia. The dark grey, matte Acanthites range up to 7-8 mm, and can be quite sharp in their habit. The lustrous, gemmy Calcites, which form a rich coating on the matrix, average about 1 mm in size, and they have deep orange fluorescence. Included are fascinating hand-written, old time labels, including the label from the University of Naples. Not elegant, but very beautiful for what it is, and a large and fine specimen for the region. I am told this dates to the early to mid 1800s.
