The ancient Mezica Mine of Slovenia started ore production in the 1400s and may have been worked by the Romans. But smithsonite specimens from this historic locale are extremely rare and are very rarely available. A fine, curved, box-work crust is covered on all sides with lustrous, translucent, light brown smithsonite microcrystals formed in botryoids. Ex. Mullane Collection and comes with an older Bourget Bros. label.
