Yes, even though you can eat it, halite (sodium chloride, or salt as you know it) is just as legitimate a mineral specimen as any other. It is represented here in fine crystals from Poland, with wonderful transparency, to over 2 cm along the edge. The crystals here are nicely isolated rather than massed together, so they really stand out.
