Prehnite Cast After Anhydrite

One of the most dramatic large pieces recovered, this plate has no repairs and is complete all around. It features three, large, upright, lustrous and translucent fingers of apple-green prehnite, to 7 cm in length. They are perched above other nubbier fingers and splay in all directions. A single, lustrous and translucent, colorless, calcite crystal measuring 1.9 cm in length is jauntily perched on the side of one prehnite finger. The bottom face clearly exhibits hollow casts to show that these were were once anhydrite crystals, now crested over by the prehnite which remained when the anhydrite dissolved away. In particular, please note the superb hollow cast that transverses the length of what is now a prehnite finger. Amazing!
