A rare, old-time, polished slab of rhodonite from the Ural Mountains of Russia. The rhodonite has a striking swirl pattern and beautiful hues of cherry-red. Ex. Henry Hanks and Russell Jones Collections. Henry Hanks was the first State Mineralogist for California and lived from 1826-1907. Also accompanied by a Hugh Ford label dating from 1946-57. Very seldom available in this old-time quality. This slab certainly dates to Imperial Russia and is at least 100 years old.
