For all its prodigious production of mineral specimens, the Gilgit area is not known for its diopsides, and particularly of this size: a crystal measuring 4 cm tall by 2.5 cm wide! It is TERMINATED and complete all around - jutting out of matrix, with a sidecar crystal on one side (also terminated). The crystal has a pretty grass-green color, and is translucent. very unusual specimen, I would say.
