This specimen beautifully displays four starkly contrasting colors and forms of minerals at once: ocherous limonite matrix; white drusy calcite; botryoidal, dark green mimetite, to 1 cm across; and amber colored, bipyramidal wulfenite, to 5 mm across. It was one of the very best pieces I obtained of this material, of which I probably handled 90 percent or more in the higher quality when it was found a few years ago in about 2010. Few came out associated with calcite - perhaps less than a half dozen of any quality. This piece also has among the largest balls of mimetite of anything from these finds. Take these qualities, and add great aesthetics for how they are displayed on a natural pedestal of matrix! The piece actually did not come out with the rest, but was held back in the private collection of dealer/collector Jason New, from whom I bought it in 2012. It then passed into a private collection, whose owner is now selling minerals from certain localities to focus on other things. It had never actually been on the open market, in other words.
