The label accompanying this English galena specimen says "from an old collection, circa 1890," and its appearance (and marcasite association) would lend credence to its being mined in the Cumberland district at this time. It is a truly impressive specimen for its size and richness, with DOZENS of cubes piled up all over this knob of matrix, measuring to 1.5 cm. The little golden marcasites have grown on the faces of some of the galenas.
