Lazulite from Georgia is generally thought to provide the best textbook examples of this species. Usually, they are both small and chalky, pale blue in color. This monstrous crystal is nearly 5 cm long, doubly-terminated, and dramatically displays on a well-trimmed matrix! It is off the charts for the species from this locality! It came out of an old collection in the Atlanta area, and I was lucky to see that it cleaned up nicely. Most of them, when you clean them, simply stay blue/gray. This one actually has color. This is, for what it is, a "rock star" for an American classic. Joe Budd photos.
