What a great, rare combination specimen from the emerald mines of Colombia! The centerpiece is a huge, 3.5cm dark honey colored, translucent, terminated crystal of parisite jacketed by white, platy calcite crystals and beautifully accented by a partial, 1.5cm emerald crystal that is further contrasted by a black shale matrix! The parisite is hexagonal and doubly tapering; it nearly has an opposing termination save for the contact on that end. Parisite, is a calcium cerium carbonate with fluorine. Good, large parisite crystals such as this are the exception at the emerald mines in the Muzo area of Colombia, one of the co-type localities in that country. Great color and luster, size, and association make this a very rare display quality parisite from the emerald mines!
