Just a stunning cluster of large Azurite crystals to 3.8cm across from the famed copper mines of Chessy, France! There are many mediocre pieces of Chessy Azurite out there from hundreds of years of mining, but this one is a standout with large, lustrous, well-formed Azurite crystals arranged aesthetically and associated with bright green Malachite. Some of the Azurite crystals have experienced partial replacement by Malachite, and Malachite is also obvious around the periphery of the piece. This outstanding French Azurite is in excellent condition! Ex. Herb Obodda collection (in his European classics suite) with label and an old handwritten German label dated from 1904.
