Copper
A dramatic, sculptural, large cabinet sheet of intergrown native copper plates from the White Pine Mine of Michigan. This striking piece looks like a tropical fish with an elongated, paddle tail. The bright patina and remaining bits of shale are a nice accent. Native copper was deposited in shale beds of the Nonesuch Shale, explaining the sheet-like form. The White Pine was the last major copper mine to close in the historic Copper Country.
