Outstanding example of an Arkansas classic, Calcite on Pink Dolomite. The superb scalenohedral Calcite is a full 6 cm long, and it is partially doubly terminated. The luster is glassy and the crystal is gemmy. So gemmy, in fact, that you can see a white, central phantom and a dozen or so Chalcopyrite crystals floating within the large Calcite. Very very attractive. The Calcite rests on a matrix composed of lustrous, curving pink Dolomite crystals that reach up to 1 cm across. The quarries in this area are renowned for their pink Dolomite specimens, and when you can find them in combination with quality Calcite crystals, they become true treasures.
