From the ancient slag heaps of Laurium comes this rather spectacular pseudomorph of pink rhodochrosite after calcite. It has very dramatic form, as you can see, showig off the full major crystal on a natural pedestal! The 5.5 cm wide pseudo is a lovely pink color with good luster. There are also a couple of smaller rhombs of the same pseudo. This is a classic old locality, but large specimens, in good shape, are extremely uncommon. This came out of an old German collection and is one of the better examples I have seen.
