A striking, unusually fine and rich Rhodochrosite from the well-known Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. The layer of scintillating, pink Rhodochrosite blades covers the top of a botryoidal Goethite matrix. The largest of these botryoids is 1.9 cm across, and the contrast between the pink and the dark, reddish-brown is both stark and appealing. Also, you can actually see that there numerous overgrowths of Rhodochrosite scalenohedrons, which add greatly to the interest of this small cab. Outstanding and aesthetic material, probably from 1970s. It is hard to convey in photos how sparkly and shiny this piece is, unique even among all rhodochrosites. One must have seen these in person to fully appreciate how they "shimmer" at the viewer. This is a superb Mexican classic, and a worldwide rhodochrosite of high quality for an unusual style. It displays equally well from four very different views/angles!
