These gemmy, water-clear fluorite cubes with brown centers are highly reminiscent of the famous fluorite specimens from Clay Center, Ohio, but are in fact, from one of several quarries at Newport, Monroe County, Michigan. The glassy cubes, to 6 mm, are richly scattered on both sides of the matrix and nicely accented by colorless to light amber, calcite scalenohedrons. An excellent two-sided, combination piece. Fluorite of this variety is not very common from this locality. Moderate purple fluorescence.
