These beautiful, lustrous pyrite floater "suns" formed between an ancient bed of shale and clay near Sparta, Illinois. This one is complete all-around, front and back. The radial appearance of the pyrite is very interesting and the pyrite has a flashy, chatoyant shimmer. You can see the interior shale on both sides of this specimen. Highly representative of this unusual occurrence.
