This is an outstanding matrix specimen of the very rare and beautiful lead tungstate, stolzite. Superbly emplaced on a matrix of massive manganese oxide are discrete, doubly-terminated crystals of lustrous and translucent stolzite, to 5 mm across. The size, richness, color and textural contrasts are awe-inspiring for this old specimen - which predates WW1. You just never see them on the market! Ex. Herb Obodda Collection. The old label is from the turn of 1900 or so, from the collections of Julius Bohm, and an old German named Weinberger.
