A very attractive and contrasting Rose Quartz specimen that is adorned with just the right amount of complementing by other species, in this case a sprinkling of Eosphorite crystals. This particular piece has a conspicuous, glassy and stout, Rose Quartz "point" off-center in the piece with smaller Rose Quartz crystals radiating away from it. The large, translucent, subtly pink point has a corona of smaller, deep pink Rose Quartz crystals around its base for a beautiful and unique effect. The smaller Quartz crystals radiating away from the point are adorned with numerous, orange-brown, prismatic Eosphorite crystals to 4 mm along with a few dozen 1 to 2 mm spheres of light olive green Zanazziite. Eosphorite is a relatively rare manganese-aluminum phosphate. Zanazziite is a very rare and complex calcium-magnesium-beryllium phosphate somewhat recently described in 1990 and the Ilha Claim is the type locality. The combination of great aesthetics with regard to the Rose Quartz and its embellishment with a couple of rare phosphate minerals makes for an attractive and individualized piece! It is interesting to note that there have been many Rose Quartz specimens from Brazil that have had the Eosphorite removed from them in the past because the garimpeiros (local miners) thought it detracted from the specimen. Many beautiful Eosphorite-Rose Quartz combination specimens have been compromised in the past due to the removal of Eosphorite, but this lovely small cabinet piece survived that fate and is preserved as found. It has a natural, complex beauty to it, and a style very different than most others - which is why it was hoarded away in this aesthetics-focused collection to begin with.
