This is a natural "spike" of hematite, a classic from Cumbria. They also called these "horse teeth." It has angular faces all around, and the familiar intersecting concave forms on the bottom. Also unusual are the stark rust-red areas of color that stand out strikingly against the dark faces. This is a well-formed, good-sized, and aesthetic piece in superb condition form the late 1800s or early 1900s. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
