The Larson Burma minerals collection numbers nearly 1000 specimens, and in all of them there is not another like this amazing stacked vertical cluster of Spinels, perched unlikely atop matrix. He bought this in Burma himself and saw the potential specimen, and carefully managed etching it out of the surrounding marble so that, miraculously, it is not repaired. It is one of the few existing Spinel clusters of this quality in any case, but the vertical stack is highly unusual. The cluster measures 3 cm tall and is complete all around, 360 degrees. I think the video and photos speak for themselves - it is a stunning specimen. This could be considered as a very large miniature, or a smallish small cabinet size, for competitive collectors looking to follow Tucson rules (depending on display angle). It has no repairs and has fabulous, rich, blood-red color. We have not seen anything quite like it (and neither had Bill, which is why he kept it for a few decades!). Comes with a custom lucite base. In person, this is a stunning, sophisticated specimen of what is actually a very rare gem species.
