A rich, lustrous cabinet specimen of deep butterscotch-colored Mimetite, from the classic Mexican Mimetite locality of El Potosi, Santa Eulalia - in style, recognizably NOT from the more common finds at Mina Ojuela in Durango state. This is much rarer! Mimetites from Mexico came out over the years in all sorts of shades (including the GREEN ones). The best-known ones are bright yellow. This is an unusual color, rich and pretty; and notably more crystallized in wheat-sheave bundles than the typical Ojuela material which is more common on the market. These are old classics, mostly from the 1970s or early 1980s. This piece is from the Pacific Mineral Museum, with label. (Art was an advisor to that project, which never got off the ground in Vancouver) .
