We thought we had seen all hues of tanzanite already... but I was wrong! Displaying parallel growth and an unusual pink color, this is a cluster of highly elongated crystals of tanzanite to 8 cm in length. The crystals are lustrous and translucent and show the colors with no need for backlighting. Mass is 21 grams. Minor contact/damage near the termination of the large crystal and subsidiary crystals to the rear is not terribly obvious, but is present. However, because of the large size and strange attractive color of this piece, I was very fond of it when I saw it for sale just after it came into the US earlier this year.
