A superb, bright gold specimen from the famous Colorado Quartz Mine. This curved, well-crystallized, elongate piece looks like a backbone with spinel-twinned "ribs" attached. The "backbone" is, in fact, a single, long, spinel-twinned gold crystal. The bit of milky quartz is a very nice accent. The curved "tail" of the backbone features sharp, hoppered, octahedral crystals.
